STOTT PILATES® Intensive Certification Program

The STOTT PILATES® Intensive Certification Program is designed for those with solid anatomy training, familiarity with Pilates and at least three years experience teaching fitness or movement. Each course has been carefully developed to prepare you to teach STOTT PILATES’ contemporary approach to the original Pilates repertoire effectively with confidence.
Train and certify in stages or work toward certification. Either way, the solid training you gain through STOTT PILATES’ hands-on approach, relevant case studies and attention to detail ensures the success of your clients and your business.

All courses will be held at Elements in Motion, Chicago, IL unless otherwise noted

IMP-Intensive Mat-Plus Repertoire

IMP 2012 Offerings

Fall offering: August 9-12 and September 6-9 2012   10:00-3:30pm

Prerequisite: A solid knowledge of functional anatomy, familiarity with pilates and a minimum of three years experience teaching movement or fitness.
Course Description: IMP provides you with the solid foundation and skills you need to develop effective and motivating personal and group training programs. At the end of the course you are qualified to design and teach essential and intermediate level matwork classes, integrate small equipment to add variety and meet the specific needs of your clients-from post rehabilitation patients to elite athletes.  Students will learn:

  • STOTT PILATES bio-mechanical principles of core stability, peripheral mobility, breathing and alignment, and their application to matwork exercises.
  • Breakdown of essential and intermediate level Matwork exercises.
  • Variation to increase or decrease exercise intensity.
  • Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions.
  • Exercise essence, muscular initiation and movement sequencing.
  • Effective communication, visual skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation.
  • Workout composition for personal and group training.
  • Essential, intermediate and power workouts.
  • Use of Flex-Band and Fitness Circle exercises, and the Small/Arc Barrel to enhance, support and intensify strength and flexibility exercises.

Course Details:

  • In class – 40 hours of instruction
  • Outside of class – 10 hrs. observation, 30 hrs. physical review. 15 hrs. practice teaching

IR-Intensive Reformer Repertoire

IR 2012 Offerings

Summer offering: June 21-24, July 13-15, and August 3-5 2012   10:00-3:30pm

Prerequisite: IMP or CMR
Course Description: IR prepares you to teach a broad range of exercises, variations and modifications performed on the STOTT PILATES® Reformer – the key piece of resistance equipment used in pilates exercise. This course teaches you how to combine mat and reformer-based workouts for increased variety and intensity. Upon completion of this course you are able to further motivate group classes and customize personal training sessions for a range of clients-from post rehabilitation patients to elite athletes.  Students will learn:

  • How to apply STOTT PILATES bio-mechanical principles to Reformer-based exercises
  • Breakdown of essential and intermediate level Reformer exercises.
  • Exercise essence, muscular initiation, and exercise sequencing.
  • Effective use of resistance to enhance torso stability training and peripheral extremity conditioning.
  • Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions.
  • How to develop effective Reformer and combined Mat-and-Reformer programs for personal and group classes.
  • Essential, intermediate and power workouts.
  • Effective communication, visual skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation.

Course Details:

  • In Class – 50 hours of instruction
  • Outside of Class – 10 hrs. observation, 40 hrs. physical review, 25 hrs. practice teaching.

ICCB-Intensive Cadillac, Chairs and Barrels Repertoire

The Cadillac, Chair, & Barrels course is now being offered as three separate modules to allow you to choose which element to take, and when (they may be scheduled consecutively). Completion of all three modules below is required to be eligible for certification.

Course Fee:

  • ICCB – all modules taken together, $1850 (course materials and exam not included)

Intensive Cadillac – ICAD

ICAD prepares you to teach Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate) exercises on the Cadillac. By the end of this course you will be able to fine-tune personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety of clients’ conditioning goals with 125 exercises on the Cadillac Trapeze Table. You will learn:

  • Effective use of the equipment to enhance torso stability and strength, peripheral extremity conditioning, joint stability, flexibility, balance and coordination
  • How to develop dynamic programs in a full studio environment
  • Essential and Intermediate exercises and variations
  • Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
  • Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions
  • Exercise layering related to effective program design

ICAD 2012 Offerings at Elements in Motion- TBA

Prerequisites:

  • IMP or IR or GM, XMP, GR, XRP

Duration:

  • In Class – 25 hours class instruction and supervised teaching
  • Outside of Class – Minimum 15 hours physical review; Minimum 10 hours practice teaching
  • Minimum of 10 hours observation

CECs:

  • 2.5 STOTT PILATES; Can-Fit-Pro

  • ICAD Only – $1000
  • ICAD as a part of ICCB – $975

Intensive Stability Chair™ – ICHR

ICHR prepares you to teach Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate) exercises on the Stability Chair. By the end of this course you will be able to fine-tune personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety of clients’ conditioning goals with 63 exercises on the Stability Chair. Beyond the You will learn:

  • Effective use of the equipment to enhance torso stability and strength, peripheral extremity conditioning, joint stability, flexibility, balance and coordination
  • How to develop dynamic programs in a full studio environment
  • Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
  • Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions
  • Exercise layering related to effective program design

    Intensive Barrels – IBRL

    IBRL prepares you to teach Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate) exercises on the Barrels. By the end of this course you will be able to fine-tune personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety of clients’ conditioning goals with 98 exercises on the Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and Arc Barrel. You will learn:

    • Effective use of equipment to enhance torso stability and strength, peripheral extremity training, joint stability, flexibility, balance and coordination
    • How to develop dynamic programs in a full studio environment
    • Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
    • Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions
    • Exercise layering related to effective program design
